If you played a game this season and threw for 260 yards with 4 touchdowns, or wrapped up 15 solo tackles, or rushed for 200 yards, or kicked 5 field goals. you'd say you had a pretty nice game. Jake Maulhardt would laugh in your face. (Maybe. I don't know the kid so I can't truly say he would do that. He might be the nicest guy on the planet for all I know.)
You see, Maulhardt, a wide receiver from Camarillo (Cali.) High School, might laugh because of the happenings last week when his team played Canyon (Cali.) High. Canyon won the game 52-28, but that isn't the story.
The story, dear friend, is what Maulhardt accomplished in the defeat. He set a new California State Record by pulling in 28 receptions and ranks 3rd, according to MaxPreps, on the single game National record. His 28 grabs netted him 347 total yards and three touchdowns.
Furthermore, the 6'7 Maulhardt did it all while in double and triple coverage.
