Record Setter

Senior year of my high school football career - if it can be called that - I lined up on the O Line as the left tight end. We were a running team, only throwing the ball to running backs who had scampered out the the left or right flank for a screen pass. Something quarterback Will Totten, of McKenzie High School (Ore.), did not do.

What Totten did do, however, was set a new football record. I say new football record because it has never been done on any level before he did it. So what did he do?

Totten threw for 553 yards with 11 touchdowns. He also added 117 on the ground with a score. Add it all together and it's a 670 yard, 12 touchdown day for the kid.

Though the division Totten and his teammates play in is of the 8-man team variety, allowing for more scoring - the final score was McKenzie 88, Lowell (Ore.) 80 - it's still a pretty impressive feat.
